Teaching Artists

The Founder and Executive Director, she fostered an enduring passion for creation, culminating in her establishment of REACH Studio Art Center in 2003. From earning an M.S. in Clothing and Textiles at the University of Illinois in 1982 to her evolution from dressmaking to acclaimed textile artist, her journey has been marked by a commitment to sharing creativity with youth and underserved communities.

Alice Brinkman

Erika, (BA, MEd, MSU, in Media Arts, Fine Arts and Film Studies) focused her studies on best practices for teaching and creating arts programs for under-served populations. Before coming to REACH in 2010, Erika worked as program coordinator and developed arts programming for homeless youth in Vermont. Erika has been a teaching artist, marketing coordinator, and board president at REACH.

Erika Noud

Sheila is a maker and has been sewing since she was 14. She is fulfilling a bucket list item at REACH, teaching young people to sew.

Sheila Moore

Elizabeth is a ceramics instructor, potter, and educator. As an educator, she is guided by the principles of experiential learning and trauma-informed teaching, inspired by the ways working with clay calms the nervous system. She especially loves working with adults and middle schoolers and the way ceramics can be a pathway to play. Elizabeth Chiaravalli

Ingrid (B.A. in Studio Art, Smith College) started teaching art when they were 14. Since then, they have led art workshops, weekly individual tutoring sessions, and art programs, in New York and beyond. Each of these experiences has taught them more about how people learn, cooperate, and express themselves. Ingrid Wiemer

Katie (Completing a Masters in Adult Education and Community Development, University of Toronto) loves developing arts-oriented curriculum for community programs and is a substitute teacher for Ingham County School districts. Katie served as REACH's Art Truck Coordinator during summer 2022, taught the Creative Connections program Fall 2022 and will be facilitating the Walk-in Wednesdays starting in Winter 2023.

Katie Morris

Meghan (M.A. Art Education, Western Michigan University) is an experienced visual arts educator and has worked in K-8 classrooms locally as an art specialist. She has shared her skill as an arts educator in various programs at REACH including Creative Tots, Art Basics and Summer Camps.

Meghan Andrews

Rhonda, retired after thirty one years as a high school art specialist, resides in Williamston Michigan where she continues to develop her own art practice, using multiple approaches to media from oil and acrylic to watercolor, collage, and mixed media drawing. She shows in galleries statewide and teaches the Virtual Experimental Painting Class for REACH. http://www.rhondasherwin.com/

Rhonda Sherwin

Sara is an artist and educator, serving diverse communities to ensure the arts and creative process remain an important facet of lifelong learning and exploration. She recently served for 4 years at REACH as Program Director and previous to her work as REACH was the Senior Manager of Studio Programs at Marwen in Chicago. Currently, she oversees and serves as a teaching artist for REACH's partner program with Highfields.
