WEEK LONG CAMPS FOR AGES 6-10

Week 1: June 10th - June 14th

Fun in the Forest - Morning Session 9am - 12pm
Come create art based on the beauty of plants, animals, and nature in this camp, filled with engaging and fun multimedia art projects!

Bird's Eye View Cityscape - Afternoon Session 1pm - 4pm
What do birds see from up above? Using repurposed materials, we will design a colorful birds-eye view of a city grid landscape. Play with cardboard, scrap wood, found objects and more, all to plan, design, and construct your colorful town!

Week 2: June 17th - June 21st

Tent Making - Morning Session 9am - 12pm
Tackle the challenge of constructing tents in this collaborative creative camp, where teamwork truly makes the tent work! To create a secure structure, teams will need to use their problem-solving skills and an assortment of artistic techniques to complete your squad's vision!

Creature’s Features - Afternoon Session 1pm - 4pm
What makes a monster? Imagine, create, and examine creatures of all types in this art camp. We will try out sculpture, collage and even storytelling to delve into and develop the worlds of our creatures. Projects will include wire, cardboard, papier-mâché, paint, and whatever else we find interesting along the way!

Week 3: June 24th - June 28th

Sea Serpent - Morning Session 9am - 12pm
From the deep depths of the sea, we'll call out for a colorful large sea serpent that will weave in and out of the waves! Your serpent will need texture, pattern and color, and a personality to match: will it be happy, sad or protective? Will it breathe fire, ice or something else? Let's find out and create a monster together!

Mask Masking - Afternoon Session 1pm - 4pm
Let’s have fun constructing a wall hanging cardboard mask. Countless boxes and differently sized cardboard shapes form the base for these creative and masks. Will you represent a vicious reptile or adorable bunny? Or simply a human, robot or alien? Finish your mask with color: paint it and use other recycled materials to complete your project!

Week 4: July 15th - July 19th

Multimedia Masterminds - Morning Session 9am - 12pm
Jack of all trades, masters of some! In this camp students will explore a variety of arts and crafts - weaving, painting, collage, and many, many more!

Marvelous Matisse Room - Afternoon Session 1pm - 4pm
Inspired by the work of French painter Henri Matisse, we will have fun constructing marvelous rooms, building up our walls and decorating the floor with colorful textiles and patters galore. In our room we'll need a table and a decorative flowerpot, and no matter how big or small, your bouquet arrangement is sure to be a hit!

Week 5: July 22nd - July 26th

Fiber Fun - Morning Session 9am - 12pm
The threads of fiber call to you! Come craft functional and decorative artworks using weaving, embroidery, and simple hand-sewing techniques.

Jungle Escape with Animal Friends - Afternoon Session 1pm - 4pm
Let’s create layers and layers of painted jungle vegetation. Using crayons, oil pastels, markers and more you will create a luscious and vibrant jungle environment. What animals will be hiding in your jungle scene? We will finish our your artwork with collaged leaves and vines.

Week 6: July 29th - Aug 2nd

UFO - Unidentified Friendly Object - Morning Session 9am - 12pm
Blast into outer space designing a spaceship and its galactic driver! Your UFO will be set against a large outer space landscape created using a variety of mediums and recycled materials. The foreground of our artwork will be a detailed planet landscape, full of craters and holes. Will you color it with bubbles, fire, lava, ice, slime? Perhaps a little character or two might be peeking out...

Defying Dimensions - Afternoon Session 1pm - 4pm
If you could shrink or grow anything you made, would you make props for mice or toys for elephants? In this camp we will create art that is big and art that is small—tiny homes, giant faces, and anything that plays with scale! We will work with paint, cardboard, paper, canvas, natural materials and more, to create new and surprising pieces.

Week 7: Aug 5th - Aug 9th

Printmaking Lab - Morning Session 9am - 12pm
What experiments will you conduct in our printmaking lab? Transferring images and text from one surface to another, you will learn of different methods and techniques of printmaking. Ever heard of a printing press? Did you know stamps count too? Using Geli plates, the printing tool that looks and feels like gelatin, as well as Styrofoam, come make some collagraphs, and design your own stamps!

Everything's So Dramatic! - Afternoon Session 1pm - 4pm
In this camp we will be focusing on the dramatization of literature, how a piece of writing becomes a play or musical, the adaptation process and how dramatization can addto or take away from a piece of performance art.
