An introduction to the clay potter’s wheel. Learn to prepare clay, center, pull up, shape and tool into bowls, vases, cups and more.  Class size is limited to 6 students.

Teen Open Studio

COMMUNITY ART PROJECTS MAP!

Ages 13-18
Meet new friends, practice creativity and get involved in your community. Teens build skills in focused visual art media, community art projects, leadership and life while being mentored by volunteers and community artists. Year round in 10 week terms. Enroll in each term separately.

TOS- Portfolio: Spend time developing individual projects of your own, independently and with artist mentors. Opportunity to exhibit and sell your work in REACH’s Youth Gallery! Wednesdays.  Click here to learn more about TOS portfolio and CAPS!

Teens will focus on the creation of short films in partnership with Michigan State University digital video and special effects students on Wednesdays in October 2016.

TOS- CAPS: Work on Community Art Projects with your peers and guest artists to build leadership, teamwork, and art skills, and put more art in our community! Thursdays.  Click here to learn more about TOS portfolio and CAPS!

Fall 2016 CAPS is a partnership with Lansing Community College’s Center for Engaged Inclusion and the Sociology Department for the creation of a mosaic mural honoring Malcolm X that will be placed at Shabazz Academy.

Fall 2016 Fridays will be dedicated to learning about the history of graffiti with local artist Rob Shelburg.  Students will create both individual and group works.
