  Kiln Firing Charges

These prices are per item not made at REACH, even if you used left over clay from Open Clay Studio, or glazed pieces not made at REACH. This includes 2 firings, bisque, and glaze firings.

  • 10 cents per inch of area x ½ of height

For example, if an item measures 4 inches wide by 5 inches long by 3 inches high:

  • Calculate .10 x (4 x 5 x 1.5) = .10 x 30 =
  • (round each measurement up to nearest inch)
  • One regular Kiln firing (whether or not you fill it) costs $15. Kiln firing price is double if you’re not an Open Clay Studio participant (a participant means that you have at least 4 paid visits to Open Clay Studio).

REACH is committed to keeping prices as low as possible for students. Fees for the Open Clay Studio help REACH cover staffing, supplies, equipment, utility and maintenance costs for the kiln and building rental.
