After school art for children  7 - 12 years old

Creative Connections: REO RHYTHM & RHYMES @ REACH (4Rs)

Up to 30 Lansing youth have the opportunity to enroll in REACH’s free after school winter/spring program which focuses on skill building in the visual arts and art education which integrates a variety of art forms and core subjects. Guest artists and community volunteers will work with the students in this program on a weekly basis to give the youth: a well rounded art making experience, build friendships, and increase decision making abilities. In the winter/spring session of REACH’s Creative Connections, youth will spend 18 weeks making percussive instruments, composing songs/music, and learning dance steps all while learning about different cultures. The finale will be a video with soundtrack produced with partnering businesses to be shared in a celebration/showing at the end of project.

For Youth ages 7 – 12 (2nd – 6th grade)

Enroll for Tuesdays or Wednesdays, 4:00 – 6:00 for entire winter/spring semester.

January 10 – May 23 (no sessions on: March 6, 7 and April 3,4)

Space is limited. Please turn in application as soon as possible!

Application due at REACH Studio no later than Friday, December 16, 2011.

No registration fee!

(priority will be given to students who demonstrate commitment to attending the full semester, financial need, and attend a Lansing school or live in a surrounding neighborhood of REACH.)
